Justin the Dracaena marginata here. I know I look a bit spiky but there’s a reason for that: I’ve got dragon blood in me! Ok, ok: not really. But, I am known as the dragon plant, spike dracaena and dragon blood tree because of my strange ability to ooze red “blood” if you slice into my trunk. Don’t do it though - I do much prefer being left in one piece.
If you’re seeking an exotic but hardy houseplant, I’m the ideal fit. In my natural habitat, I can grow in a dry climate and will even endure periods of drought. Is it any surprise that I’m very popular in office buildings and forgotten parts of your home?
My tropical look can be enjoyed anywhere providing there isn’t any direct sunlight. I’m usually advertised as a low-light tolerant plant, but I do prefer a brighter, indirect light - you’ll see me grow as big as a dragon (well, not quite) in a better lit room.
Medium height (including nursery pot) 75cm; pot diameter 17cm. (Fits a 18-22cm pot)
