Native to new guinea and Queensland, Dischidia ovata is a diminutive epiphyte with striking light streaks throughout the leaves, giving them the appearance of mini watermelons. It gets it’s species name from its ovate (egg-shaped) leaves. When exposed to enough direct sunlight, leaves can blush beautiful shades of pink and red.
Dischidia ovata enjoys a chunky, well-draining soil, bright indirect-partial/dappled brief direct sun exposure, temps between 60-90 degrees, and humidity levels ideally between 60-80%.
May require grow lights in the winter months if window lighting is not optimal. Allow the pot to thoroughly dry in between waterings.
Likely doesn't ever need to be repotted.
This plant is toxic to pets.
