Sow seeds thinly, about ¼ inch deep, spacing them 3–4 inches apart in rows 12 inches apart. If sown more densely, thin seedlings once established to allow proper root development—overcrowding leads to small, misshapen carrots. Germination is slow, often taking 2–3 weeks, so patience is key.

Choose a location with full sun, though carrots will tolerate partial shade. Keep soil evenly moist with frequent, light waterings—especially during germination. Avoid allowing a dry crust to form on the soil surface, as this can prevent seedlings from emerging.
